Full Fibre Charter
Scotland’s Full Fibre Charter provides a basis for the Scottish Government and telecoms operators to work together to maximise full fibre coverage throughout Scotland, with the aim of extending commercial build further into remote, rural and geographically challenging areas.
The Charter sets out a number of key pledges for both signatories and the Scottish Government. One key pledge is the Scottish Government’s commitment to remove non-domestic rates on all newly laid and ‘lit’ infrastructure for 10 years. From 1 April 2022, this commitment has been extended for a further 5 years until March 2034, offering the most extended period of rates relief in the UK.
