Improved work and life balance in Sutherland

Iain Roberts and his partner, from Nedd, a small village in Sutherland, in the Scottish Highlands, had a very limited broadband connection which affected both personal and professional aspects of life.
The lack of a reliable connectivity made working from home and accessing online services difficult. To address these issues, Iain applied to the R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS) through registered supplier Northsat, who installed a Fixed Wireless Access connection for Iain at his home.
This new connection has dramatically improved their broadband’s reliability and speeds, which regularly reach over 50 megabits per second (Mbps).
- Remote work capability: "Superfast broadband has allowed my partner to work from home," Iain says, reducing the need for commuting and improving their work-life balance.
- Enhanced entertainment options: The improvement in internet speed has brought a "great improvement" in consuming online entertainment, including streaming TV shows and films without interruption.
- Improved communication: The reliable connection has "made communication with friends and family very easy," enabling smooth video calls and messaging.
- Easy purchasing: The enhanced internet has "made the way we purchase goods and services much easier," allowing for convenient online shopping and service access.
- Reduced need for travel: With the ability to work from home and manage other tasks online, the need for travel has been "dramatically reduced," saving time and resources.
"I would recommend superfast broadband to others; we are very satisfied," Iain advises, expressing the positive impact that the upgrade has had on their household.
